2001 BMW Z8 Dinan

Information

Presented here is this distinguished 2001 BMW Z8 Roadster in Jet Black over Sport Red leather, with only 8,774 miles on the odometer. This car is one of only 342 produced in this particular livery.

The Z8 Roadster debuted at the 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show, paying homage to the iconic BMW 507 from the late 1950s, a car once pivotal to the company's financial history. Sold new at BMW Las Vegas, this particular vehicle came complete with everything from new - window sticker, phone, coffee table book, boot cover, two keys, hardtop with stand and cover, and a trickle charger. Truly, this is the best of the best plus one.

The Z8 features an aluminum spaceframe, MacPherson strut front suspension, and a multi-link rear suspension. Powered by a BMW Motorsport-developed V8 engine, originally offering 394 horsepower, this particular Z8 has undergone an exceptional Dinan Stage 2 full engine upgrade, transforming it into one of only 7 Dinan Engineering S2 Z8 Conversions done at BMW Las Vegas, certified by BMW North America. The conversion elevates the performance to an astonishing 470 horsepower from its normally aspirated 5.0 liter BMW M5 E39 engine, with torque increased from 368 to 419 pound-feet.

The modifications include a high-flow intake system, custom exhaust headers, and a Dinan Easy Flow exhaust system which reduces weight by 29 pounds over the stock setup. The stage 5 engine software enhances performance by integrating the cold air intake, header system, high flow air mass meters, and throttle bodies, raising the redline to 7300 RPM from the stock 7000 RPM, and removing the BMW's electronic 155 mph speed limitation. Additional performance parts include a low mass racing flywheel, reducing mass by 7 pounds over stock for dramatically improved acceleration, and lower differential gearing at 3.90:1 versus the original 2.81:1.

Performance figures for this Z8 are breathtaking: 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, 0-100 mph in 8.9 seconds, 0-130 mph in 15.3 seconds, 0-150 mph in 22.0 seconds, and a standing ½ mile in 11.0 seconds reaching 127 mph. Dinan Engineering estimates a top speed with the sixth gear redline at 170 mph. Lateral grip on the skidpad is an impressive .93G, underlining the car's handling prowess.

Throughout its life, the car has been meticulously maintained. Services have been performed at Desert BMW Las Vegas, where new tires were installed at 4,670 miles, along with regular oil and filter services. Additional services include an oil and brake flush at Bavarian Workshop in Granada Hills, CA in September 2017. Further, in November 2019, Santa Barbara Autowerks conducted an oil and brake flush, installed new wheels and tires, replaced mass airflow sensors and the thermostat, and in December 2019, the brakes were replaced with calipers refinished, and a new clear bra was added.

This Z8 has no prior paint work or any damage history, with full paint protection film applied to the entire front. It comes with two sets of wheels, including a new set of Alpina wheels with new Continental tires. Always serviced at BMW, all services are up to date, including a new battery.

This vehicle represents not just a piece of automotive art but an engineering marvel, combining rarity, performance, and preservation in one of the most iconic roadsters of the modern era.
