This 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi is one of 1,007 fuel-injected examples produced during a four-year production run. The car is powered by a 4.9-liter F110A flat-12 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Bianco over beige leather and red wool upholstery. Features include a limited-slip differential, fog lights, center-lock 17″ five-spoke wheels, a Pioneer cassette radio and graphic equalizer, and a gated shifter. Work in 2023 involved a refresh of the ignition system, and replacement of the wheels, suspension bushings, and clutch assembly. This 512 BBi is now offered with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a Montana title.
The Berlinetta Boxer model was styled by Pininfarina’s Leonardo Fioravanti and was introduced at the 1971 Turin Auto Show. The car features a steel-paneled cabin section paired with a tubular chassis. Aluminum is incorporated for the front and rear clamshells and door panels, while the lower panels are fiberglass. The 512 BBi variant was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1981. The cars were not officially offered in the US and were imported and federalized in-period via the gray market.
This example is finished in Bianco and features pop-up headlights, fog lights, a front spoiler, NACA side ducts, and quad exhaust outlets. A cosmetic refurbishment was performed in the mid-2010s.
The replacement 17″ five-spoke wheels were mounted in 2023 along with Nitto Nt555 G2 tires that measure 245/45 up front 285/40 out back. The 512 BBi features a fully independent suspension with unequal-length double wishbones, coilovers up front, a double coilover setup out back, and anti-roll bars fore and aft. Stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at all four corners. Bushings for the suspension and sway bars were replaced in January 2023.
The Zegna-styled cabin features seats upholstered in beige leather with contrasting red wool inserts along with matching door panels and red carpets. Amenities include a gated dogleg shifter, power windows, and a Pioneer cassette stereo with a remote graphic equalizer.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Veglia instrumentation including a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline as well as auxiliary gauges that extend to the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 34k miles.
The 4.9-liter F110A flat-12 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection utilizing twin CIS fuel distributors and was factory rated at 340 horsepower. A timing belt service was performed in December 2023. The distributor was rebuilt and the left engine mount frame repaired at that time, and additional work included replacing the water pump seals, right front engine mount, clutch assembly, rear main seal, left bank fuel pump, and fuel accumulators. The spark plugs and ignition control box were replaced along with the clutch slave cylinder in December 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The shifter shaft seal and lever bushing were replaced in January 2023.
