1978 Ford Bronco Godzilla

Information

This 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT was refurbished and modified during 2022-23 with a 7.3L Godzilla V8 and a 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission as well as a repaint in Midnight Blue Metallic with gradient sunset stripe decals. Additional equipment includes a dual-range transfer case, a black removable hardtop, a Wild Horses 4″ lift kit, Bilstein shocks, 15″ Mickey Thompson wheels, a hydroboost braking system, a RedHead steering box, locking front hubs, power steering, a swing-out rear tire carrier, black vinyl and patterned cloth upholstery, Intellitronix digital gauges, a Pioneer head unit, and air conditioning. 

The truck was repainted in Midnight Blue Metallic in 2022 and features a black removable fiberglass hardtop and Montana Broncos gradient sunset stripe side graphics as well as a bright grille, a swing-out rear tire carrier, chrome bumpers, vent windows, low-mounted Western side mirrors, and a power-operated rear window.

Polished 15″ Mickey Thompson Classic III wheels are mounted with 35×12.50″ BFGoodrich tires. A hydroboost braking system has been fitted in addition to a Wild Horses 4″ lift kit, dual Bilstein front shocks, Warn locking front hubs, a Borgeson steering shaft, and a RedHead power steering box. The body mounts and bushings have been replaced.

The front bucket seats and removable folding rear bench are fitted with black and patterned cloth Free Wheelin Company seat covers. A matching fabric headliner has been installed, and sound-deadening material has been added to the interior along with replacement carpets, door panels, and rear panels. Amenities include a center console with cupholders, a Pioneer head unit, and Classic Auto Air air conditioning.

The Ford Sport steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames an Intellitronix dash panel with a digital speedometer and digital gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature. The odometer shows 1,500 miles.

The 7.3L Godzilla V8 was installed in 2023 and features a body-color intake manifold, Holley EFI fuel rails, Indy Power Products coil covers, a Fluidyne radiator, a Boyd stainless-steel fuel tank, and OBR engine management software. The battery has been relocated under the truck and CVF Racing hood hinges have been added.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission and an NP205 dual-range transfer case along with a rebuilt Dana 44 front axle and a Ford 9″ rear axle with 3.50:1 gears.
